TAG Heuer & Gulf Launch Commemorative McQueen Monaco
Posted on 12. Aug, 2009 by Chandra Coleman in Tag Heuer
The original version of the Steve McQueen Monaco watch came out in 1966 without much fanfare; a second version was released in 1969 and enjoyed much success. Steve McQueen was the start of the cult car racing film called “Le Mans”. 40 years after this launch, TAG Heuer has teamed up with Gulf to celebrate and release a new limited edition version of the vintage McQueen Monaco chronograph. This launch also marks a new partnership between TAG Heuer and Gulf.
This new version uses the TAG Heuer Calibre 12 automatic chronograph movement, comes in a larger case (39mm) and pays homage to the Porsche Gulf 917K driven by Steve McQueen in “Le Mans” by maintaining the orange and blue meteor dial design. A vintage “Gulf” logo is displayed on the face. The grey alligator strap gives this chronograph a stylish look.
This TAG Heuer Gulf watch will be a limited production of 5,000 pieces and will be available worldwide in September of this year.
