Over the decades, the Oris watch company has dedicated a series of special edition timepieces to the world of great 20th century jazz musicians. Bearing the signature of such legendary jazz greats as Miles Davis, Quincy Jones and McCoy Tyner, most of these collections have sold out, but this year some new releases are finally available.
Two of the newest entries into the Oris watches collection include the Duke Ellington and Lionel Hampton editions.
The pink gold Lionel Hampton (Model # 5837497 40 84 LS) is a fitting tribute to this legend of swing. His role in the history of jazz puts him in the same class as other giants, such as Wes Montgomery, Quincy Jones and Benny Goodman, and he is known as the undisputed “king” of the vibraphone. The rectangular stainless-steel Oris watch that bears his signature comes in two sizes, each one available in a limited run of 200 timepieces.
The Duke Ellington (Model # 643 7537 40 84 LS) edition recognizes this artists contribution to the “Big Jazz Band” in an exclusive collection of 999 watches, each numbered and engraved with the artist’s signature and image. Featuring a tonneau-style case, black guilloche dial and black leather strap, each of these collectors-edition Oris timepieces comes with a pictorial tribute to this unforgettable musician and a certificate of authenticity.
