One might ask if a diver’s watch is appropriate black-tie attire and the answer is absolutely when it’s an Omega Watch. James Bond was always in style wearing his Omega Seamaster weather it be gambling, deep-sea diving or just romancing his latest femme fetale.
In GoldenEye a costume designer by the name of Lindy Hemming thought the Rolex was too common for James Bond so she chose the Omega which she thought gave him a more “euro” look to match his suave, smooth and sophisticated British gentleman persona.
Bond maintains the Omega watch look in Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough. With a few small changes in the model number, he wore the quartz model # 2541.80 in the first movie and thereafter the #2531.80 a slightly more expensive version. The changes are unnoticeable and the watch appears seamless throughout the four movies he dons it in.
It is a fine piece of craftsmanship that you will have for life, Bond proved that when he wore it during all occasions of his life, eating, sleeping shooting villains and during romantic interludes.
With the release of Die Another Day, Omega released a limited edition James Bond Seamaster. 10,007 were manufactured and had a 007 logo on the front. In the movie Q Branch replaced the Helium Relief Valve feature found at 10:00 with a detonator pin . Bond, the epitome of cool.
