Limited Edition Omega Vancouver 2010 Watch

Although Omega and the Olympics have a long standing history, winning the right to sell merchandise at any Olympic Games is another matter.
Of the hundreds of companies that applied – everything from watches and accessories, to clothes and food – fewer than 50 were approved, says VANOC director of licensing and merchandising Dennis Kim. Of these, almost all are based in Canada, but not Omega watches.
To commemorate the 2010 Winter Games Omega is not only erecting a special boutique, but will be selling a limited edition Seamaster Diver Vancouver 2010 watch (pictured here).
This special watch will be available in two sizes: 41mm presumably for men and 36.25mm for women. This watch, as with all other Omega watches, is sporty, well crafted, precise in its timekeeping and able to withstand rough and tough conditions, whether due to weather or wear and tear. Special details include the colors red and white (like the Canadian flag), tiny Olympic rings on the seconds hand, while the caseback is engraved with the Vancouver 2010 logo.
The Omega Seamaster collection is divided into three models: the 300 M, Aqua Terra, Apnea and Planet Ocean. The 300M and Aqua Terra styles run on different movements: a quartz version, chronograph or chronometer. The 300 M is the one worn by James Bond and is considered a manly watch.
The Aqua Terra is not as water resistant as the 300 M and therefore considered more of a businessman’s watch. The Planet Ocean is the newest to be added to the Seamaster collection and was given a lot of press when worn by Omega ambassador Michael Phelps. The Apnea, which means to stop breathing when sleeping, is part of the Phelps series and is to be used when free diving.
