Some watchmakers show off a new line by putting them center stage at Bloomingdales, IWC Schaffhausen has decided to introduce their new Portuguese series on the big screen. Actually, IWC is celebrating the launch of their newest timepieces by creating a short film. The release of the film will be held at the SIHH Watch Fair, staring Hollywood actor, Jean Reno. The SIHH is held in Geneva and more than 600 guests will attend.
The short film is named “The Spirit of Navigation”, and addresses both the secrets and significance of navigational and nautical history. The intent is to take the viewer 6000 years back in time, to the point where the art of navigation originated. From this point, the film will grasp you with riveting dialogue and poetry, recapturing the excitement first felt by sea captains and astronomers long ago.
The film will speed you through time, to the future and reconnect you with the release of IWC’s iconic Portuguese Watch. The re-release of this family of watches is exciting and long overdue. IWC has long modeled their sophisticated timepieces after precision navigational instruments, and this film demonstrates just how closely those footsteps were followed.
IWC’s Portuguese watch comes in Platinum, 18 carat white gold, and 18 carat rose gold. All versions in this series are created with the amazing craftsmanship and precision that are the IWC trademark.
