Luminox Sponsored Team Doing Well

The Winter 2010 Olympics will begin in February in Vancouver, Canada and even though Omega watches is an official sponsor of these Games, they are not the only luxury watch company to have a presence.
The Luminox Watch Company sponsored U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Team is gearing up to do well once the Games begin. Luminox has sponsored the team since 2008 and will do so until May 2011. So far, the U.S. team has collected 13 medals to date, five of them gold.
Luminox watches are sporty looking and great for use during any sporting event, due especially to the illumination technology they employ. Founded in 1989 by Barry Cohen, the brand came to life when Cohen learned of a unique Swiss self-powered illumination technology and realized that combining this system with a watch would be success. This system makes watches easier to read in low or dim lighting; each watch is made with self-powered micro gas lights, called borosilicate glass capsules. The capsules are placed into the hands, hour markers and even the bezels.
Taken from the official Luminox site, “Luminox watches do not require an external light source to “charge” the paint on the dial or hands in order to glow as do conventional luminous watches; nor do they require the push of a button to light the dial.”
