Michelle Obama is much more than the woman married to the 44th President of the United States. She is a “First Lady”, a lawyer, a mother, and major fashion icon. Every move she makes, every dress she wears and every accessory she chooses is immediately noticed, analyzed and commented upon. I mean, who could forget the flowing white, one-shoulder gown she danced in at the Inaugural Ball? Loved it.
Mrs. Obama’s flair for fashion comes naturally. For many magazine shoots, she has chosen her own clothes and I’m pretty sure she’s too down to earth to ever have a personal stylist. In July 2007, Vanity Fair listed her among “10 of the World’s Best Dressed People” and in 2008 she appeared in People magazine’s list of Best Dressed Women.
In her professional White House photograph, Michelle Obama is a flawless example of elegance. A black dress and white pearls, her classic and confident style is said to be reminiscent of Jackie Kennedy, perhaps the other most admired and fashionable First Lady ever.
Wait… what kind of watch is she wearing? It’s kind of hard to make out, but looks to me like it’s a Cartier Tank Francasie. Yep, that’s it. And she loves it so much that she also wore her Tank on the cover of People magazine in March of this year.
It’s not surprising that Mrs. Obama chooses the very classic Cartier Tank Francasie. Women all over the world swoon for anything that comes in that iconic red box and Cartier women’s watches are no exception. The Tank Francasie was originally created in 1917 by the founder of the House of Cartier himself. Due to its continued popularity over the years, there are now over thirty variants. The most recent version of the Tank, released in 1996, is the Tank Francasie. No doubt that sales of this watch have sky-rocketed due to the fact that Mrs. Obama wears it. Perhaps in our world of pop culture it should be known as the “Michelle Obama Watch?”
